Aberdare Range (3900m)
Oldonyo is estimated to be the highest point in the Aberdare mountain range. While today there is no permanent snow on the mountain, glaciation is evident by way of the u-shaped valleys that are characteristically found on these mountains. In the area surrounding the range, on a clear day, the Great Rift Valley and Mt. Kenya are visible in their entire splendor. The rolling, open terrain invites hikers to view unique flora and a variety of wildlife, including elephants, buffaloes and leopards.

Technical Climbing on Mt. Kenya
Technical climbing of Mt. Kenya’s two peaks, Batian (5199m) and Nelion (5188m) is an adventure in itself. Because of Mt. Kenya’s unique position on the equator, the climbing season and route conditions vary with the sun’s position. The table below offers comparisons of climbing standards for various countries.  For more detailed information and to optimize your climbing experience, please contact tour operators.
